Using the Go Live Widget
The Go Live widget is where you can complete the process of using your own domain to point to your LearnDash Cloud site.
After setting up your Domain’s CNAME records, the next step is to use the Go Live widget to automatically connect your domain with your site. The Go Live widget does all the work for you including replacing all the URLs on the site and issuing you an SSL Certificate for your site.
How to Use the Go Live Widget
After the initial setup process, you will be taken to the WordPress dashboard where you can customize your LearnDash site.
For the Go Live Widget:
- On the WordPress Admin Dashboard, go to “Set Up”
- Scroll down to where it says “Launch with a Custom Domain”
- Before proceeding to the next step, make sure that you have set up your DNS and added a CNAME record to point your Domain. You can view those steps here.
- Once that’s done, simply add your domain on Step Number 2, and press Connect.
- There’s also an option (optional) to skip the DNS record validation, this skips the checking of the DNS records that you set with your domain registrar. We don’t recommend skipping this step unless you’re absolutely certain that you’ve completed the steps to add the CNAME record on your DNS. If the setup is invalid, your site may become inaccessible. You have to contact support to get that fixed.
- The process might take a few minutes since it will be checking the DNS records, connecting your domain with your site, replacing all the old URLs on your site with the new one, and issuing you a new SSL Certificate.
- Once the domain has been connected, you have to login again on the new live domain.
These changes will also reflect on your LearnDash Cloud account dashboard where you will see the new live domain.
Once all that’s done, your site is now live using your own domain. You can log in to your dashboard using the new domain and will be able to visit the site using the new domain name.
